Dr. Wheatley did her Allergy & Clinical Immunology training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before joining the Allergy Division at the University of Virginia.  Since that time, she has worked in private practice seeing both adults and children with allergic disorders, and is currently the Section Chief for Food Allergy, Atopic Dermatitis and Allergic Mechanisms in the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.  In this position, she has oversight of the spectrum of grants within the scientific fields covered in her section, including the Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Researchers. Additionally, she acts as a Medical Officer for clinical trials in the field of allergy funded by NIAID using the Cooperative Agreement grant mechanism.
