Dr. Alain Schoepfer leads the outpatient consultation of division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of University Hospital Lausanne in Switzerland. He is associate professor of the faculty of Biology and Medicine of University of Lausanne. His research work focuses on assessment of eosinophilic esophagitis disease activity on the levels of patient reported outcomes, endoscopy, and histology.

Together with international collaborators he published the EoE Activity Index Patient Reported Outcomes instrument (EEsAI-PRO), a validated score to assess EoE-related symptom severity. He and his group published several studies on EoE’s natural history, new therapeutic approaches, and evaluations of the relationship between PRO and biologic activity. He heads the Swiss EoE Cohort that longitudinally follows >600 adults with EoE.
