Dr. Book is a professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in the division of cardiology in Atlanta, Georgia, and director of the Emory Adult Congenital Heart Center. She has been president of the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders since 2009. APFED is a non-profit patient advocacy group dedicated to supporting those living with eosinophil associated diseases while advancing research into mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of these rare diseases.

After medical school at The State University of New York (SUNY) in Syracuse, New York, and her internship and residency at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, she completed her fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Emory University in Atlanta.

Dr. Book’s works have been recognized in numerous publications and she has received multiple awards, including the Emory University School of Medicine Alumni Award, and the Nanette K. Wenger Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions to Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Book is a fierce advocate for those living with rare diseases, bringing her personal experience as a parent of a child with eosinophilic esophagitis and eosinophilic asthma to her advocacy efforts.
